Focus 2019

Focus 2019

The FOCUS local history photo competition is back in 2019, with cash prizes up for grabs to amateur photographers.

This year’s theme is ‘Crossing the Line’ and it’s the last chance to capture the way our local rail crossings and stations look today. Very soon some rail crossings will be going underground or above roads - and we need your photographic talents to preserve current history!

We’re looking for images of crossings and stations in Kelmscott, particularly around Denny Avenue and Davis Road in Kelmscott. Photos of other crossings in Armadale could include Church Avenue, Byron Road and Eleventh Road. Read the hints & tips sheet for useful advice.

BONUS CATEGORY: for the second year running, FOCUS also has a pre-1990 open themed category. Enter your best or favourite pre-1990 photo taken within the City of Armadale (preferably taken outdoors) for another chance to win a cash prize and a large acrylic-mounted copy of your image.

This year there are two categories:

‘Crossing the Line’ category: recent photographs of relevant rail crossings as detailed above

  • 1st place ($300)
  • 2nd place ($250)
  • 3rd place ($150)

Pre-1990 open category: any image taken before 1990 in the City of Armadale (digital scan, no prints)

  • 1st place ($300)
  • 2nd place ($250)
  • 3rd place ($150)
