Ripper Nippers Program (Pre-Primary)

Meet Roary our Ripper Nippers mascot!

Reading is an important life skill so let’s make reading fun for your students!

The Ripper Nippers literacy program is designed to encourage Pre-Primary students to develop a love of reading and become a member of the City of Armadale libraries while they are taking their first steps learning to read.

A Young Peoples’ Services Librarian would love to deliver this program at your school depending on your COVID policy. The 20 minute session includes some stories and an explanation of the program. We can visit each class individually.

Each child will receive a goody bag with a reading passport that they bring to the library and receive a stamp each time ONE of these items is borrowed:

  • Backpack
  • Fiction book
  • Non-fiction book
  • Talking book
  • Puppet or story kit

Completed passports receive a reward.

If an incursion is not an option, we invite you to show the video on this website to your students. It can also be viewed in classrooms as a reminder and/or sent to parents via your online communications. Goody bags can be delivered to your school for distribution.

This initiative is for Pre-Primary students that attend schools in the City of Armadale.

If you would like to organize a visit to your class or make an enquiry please contact our Young Peoples' Services Librarian at Armadale Library on 9394 5133 or email sreilly@armadale.wa.gov.au

We look forward to delivering Ripper Nippers at your school!
