Spotlight on Hilbert & Haynes

The FOCUS local history photographic competition is back for 2024 with cash prizes for the best amateur photographs.

With this year’s theme, Spotlight on Hilbert & Haynes, we want you to capture aspects of these growing suburbs as they are today!

Spotlight on Hilbert & Haynes - Photograph Category

We are seeking present day photographs that capture the district’s history by showing the unique aspects of Hilbert and Haynes through their communities, facilities, environment, and continued development.

Submit photos that capture the essence of these new neighbourhoods.

Spotlight on Hilbert & Haynes - Drone Category:

We are seeking photographs taken by drones that capture the unique aspects of Hilbert and Haynes through their communities, facilities, environment, and continued development.

Submit photos that show the unique essence of these new neighbourhoods from above.

Historical Pre-2000 Open Theme Category:

This category encourages you to find the treasures in your photo albums and get scanning. For this category we are after images showing any aspect of how life was in Kelmscott, Armadale, Roleystone, Forrestdale, or any of the suburbs within the City of Armadale’s borders before the year 2000.    

Those photographic memories from before the 2000s are history waiting to be enjoyed.

Prizes for each category are:

1st Prize      $300 & Professional Print of image
2nd Prize   $200 & Professional Print of image
3rd Prize   $100 & Professional Print of image

Entering this competition

This online-only competition is open to all amateur photographers 18 years and over, who are Australian residents.

Only photos taken within the borders of the City of Armadale will be accepted.

Please do not use AI or digital enhancement other than cropping, resizing, or reasonable adjustments to tone.

Enter as many photographs as you wish. You can submit up to 5 photos per online entry form. The entry form is available 1 February - 31 March.

Photos must be JPEG or JPG format, minimum 1MB, maximum 15MB.

Please re-name your image file in this format:
Surname_TitleOfPhoto (e.g. Smith_BlueBuilding)

By submitting an entry, you are accepting the Terms and Conditions of the competition.

Entries that fail to meet the requirements as laid out in the Terms and Conditions will not qualify for a prize. The promoter will not enter into correspondence regarding this matter.
